Fault Line

America’s tense relationship with North Korea and Russia is causing Americans to fear for the future of their country. North Korea is testing nuclear weapons and glorifying their weapons of mass destruction in parades. In response to the rise of militarism in North Korea, Vice President Mike Pence stated that “all options are on the table.” The circumstances are quite dangerous for both sides. North Korea is allies with Russia and China, and America is allies with Japan, which neighbors to North Korea. War between these two parties would quickly reach global proportions.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that “if there were to be a conflict between the two countries, Russia would support North Korea against America using their undetectable missiles.” North Korea’s approach to the situation changed as the public’s interest has become their main concern; North Korea will consider negotiations with America about denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula in exchange for their safety. Political harmony between the United States and North Korea is the goal.

Once news of North Korea’s appeasement went public, President Donald Trump tweeted, “Possible progress being made in talks with North Korea. For the first time in many years, a serious effort is being made by all parties concerned. The World is watching and waiting! Maybe false hope, but the U.S. is ready to go hard in either direction!” The future relationship between the United States and North Korea is still unclear. In the meantime, the people of both countries will have to pray for peace.
